Unity Parenting and Counseling serves foster children from all over the Greater Chicago Area, but especially on Chicago’s Southside and South Suburbs.

Unity Parenting and Counseling, Inc.’s housing and shelter programs are located on the South Side of Chicago in the following neighborhoods:  Greater Grand Crossing, Auburn Gresham, Englewood, South Shore, and Woodlawn; primarily in the following Zip Codes: 60649, 60620, and 60621. The following table shows the the differences in the neighborhoods we serve with the Lakeview Neighborhood (60657) on Chicago’s Northside. An abandoned building in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Chicago’s Southside where homeless youth used to sleep before the Ujima Village Shelter opened.

The Chicago Homeless Prevention Call center, operated by Catholic Charities of Chicago, reported that in 2013-2014, there were six Zip Codes in the Chicago area that demonstrated the greatest number of calls and the greatest need for help. The 60649 and the 60620 Zip Codes were two of these six areas.
