Ujima Village is another program promoting our mission of providing resources and services to neglected and underserved populations. It offers overnight shelter for homeless youth, ages 18-24, and is located on the border of Greater Grand Crossing and Englewood.
Ujima Village provides services that satisfy the basic needs of:
• Housing—Basic sleeping accommodations
• Food—Nutritious catered meals each day
• Personal Hygiene—Laundry facilities, showers, clothing, personal care items
• Security—Lockers to store personal items
• Connectivity—Access to computers/internet and phones
• Mobility—Transportation via transit passes
• Youth Engagement—Assess needs and link to appropriate resources
Ujima’s philosophy stresses building strong and trusting relationships with youth, before their behaviors become long-term habits. Our services can help prevent a life on the streets.
