POSITION TITLE: President & CEO

Primary Work Function:
Under the direction of the Unity Board of Directors, the President and CEO will report to and consult with the Board of Directors. This leader will be highly motivated with the desire and ability to work within a passionate work environment of service to the youth homeless community on the South Side of Chicago. The President and CEO will provide strategic leadership in the areas of people management and leadership, change management, program evaluation and management, fundraising and development with the goal of diversifying the Agency’s portfolio of funding sources and revenue streams. The President and CEO will have a strong background in financial analysis.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct organizational analysis to determine the health of each program and department, making recommendations for improvements
- Design, develop and implement operations strategic plan
- Oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations; programs, including managing a senior team, supporting all staff and responsibility allocating resources

- Assess the existing managerial and leadership structure; suggesting changes and implement best practices and norms where appropriate
- Oversee hiring, staffing and implementation of regular performance reviews of all personnel
- Effectively encourage, supervise and motive staff to work together collaboratively and monitor staff performance
- Contribute to Board meetings and maintain regular communication with the Board President to support, maintain and develop the Board
- Contribute to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts and make suggestions on how to further work to become an anti-racist and social justice focused organization
- Participate in hiring and termination of employees, if necessary and make recommendations for new positions, if needed
- Provide guidance to the organization in diversifying Agency’s revenue streams, participate in all fundraising initiatives
- Build collaborative partnerships in the community
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an advanced degree in Social Work, Nonprofit Management,
- Extensive nonprofit leadership experience
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of how best to approach nonprofit community engagement outreach, finance, operations and strategic planning
- Emotional intelligence with the ability to lead with influence rather than authority
- Strong but encouraging and supportive management style
- The ability to succeed and adjust in a constantly evolving environment
- Ability to operate with high moral standards
