Here in Chicago, there are many children who have been removed from their biological parental homes for reasons of neglect or abuse, and are in desperate need of love and support. They need a safe and stable home, as well as the love and guidance of a skilled, committed foster parent(s).
The Unity staff and case managers help to prepare qualified individuals for this challenging, but gratifying, job. Those interested in becoming foster parents are given expert training, ongoing support and, as foster parents, a monthly stipend to support the day-to-day expenses for each child. The foster parent is assisted in becoming licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS).
