With the beginning of 2022 underway, many people are focused on their New Year’s resolutions. Perhaps your goal is to positively impact your community and help your neighbors in need. Maybe you’re considering making nonprofit donations, but you’d like a few more reasons why people donate to nonprofit organizations in the first place. At Unity Parenting and Counseling, we want to make the giving process as easy and understandable as possible, so here are our top 10 reasons that people donate to nonprofits and how your nonprofit donations to Unity Parenting and Counseling helps us make life better, meaningful, and rewarding for young people and families from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Here are our top 10 reasons why you should make a donation today:

1. Your Nonprofit Donations Help Others

Depending on the nonprofit organization you donate to, you can help people, animals, and the planet. Choose a cause that is near and dear to you and make a monetary donation or volunteer your time. Either way, you’ll be helping others.

2. You’ll Feel Good

Donating money or time will make you feel good because you know you’re supporting an important cause. By donating and helping others, you’ll feel a sense of happiness and satisfaction.

3. You’ll Become More Informed

When you research nonprofit organizations and the causes they represent, you become more informed about the issues facing our planet and what we can do to solve them. With this newfound knowledge, you can teach others about important global issues and motivate them to make positive changes.

4. You’ll Promote Your Passion

Do you see many people struggling with homelessness in your community? Do the animals in shelters tug at your heartstrings? Do you want to improve the lives of people in developing countries? Do you want to support children and families in need? Think about what moves you and choose a nonprofit organization that advocates for that mission. You’ll promote your passion and make a difference in an area that matters to you.

5. You’ll Encourage Others to Follow Your Example

By donating to nonprofits, you can encourage other people to follow your lead. If your children see you donating money or time to an important causes, they’ll be more likely to grow up with a giving mindset. They’ll be more likely to make financial donations or volunteer their time. Additionally, if you let your family and friends know about your charitable donations, you may motivate them to donate to charities as well.

6. Your Nonprofit Donations Are Tax Deductible

If you donated to an IRS-approved nonprofit organization, your donation is tax-deductible. The IRS has a handy tool to help you figure out if giving to your favorite cause will also give you a tax deduction. You can search for tax-exempt organizations with their Tax Exempt Organization Search (TEOS) tool.

7. You’ll Stabilize or Expand Vital Programs

Nonprofit organizations depend on donations to promote their programs and help them reach their goals. With a monetary donation, you can support your favorite nonprofit organization and ensure that much-needed programs are stabilized or expanded.

8. You’ll Make the World a Better Place

When the world seems dark and dreary, brighten it with a donation to a nonprofit. When we watch the news and hear about all of the global negativity, it can make us feel defeated. But remember, your donation, no matter how small, does make a difference, and with it, you can make the world a better place.

9. Every Little Bit Counts

You don’t need to donate hundreds of dollars to make a difference. Every little bit counts when you donate to charitable organizations. Skip the Starbucks run and donate to a nonprofit instead. Small donations still play a major role in supporting their mission.

10. You’ll Improve Awareness of Global Issues

When you donate money or volunteer for charitable causes, you can improve awareness of global issues like poverty and hunger. By spreading awareness, you can also encourage others to support your cause and help those in need.

How Your Donation Helps Our Cause

From its inception in 1993, Unity has been all about protecting and supporting the most vulnerable groups within the community—those who are homeless or in unstable housing situations abused and neglected children in foster care and their parents, including those with physical and mental health challenges. We are invested in promoting the development of healthier and stronger family units and cultivating more positive communities.

We could not have made such a difference in the lives of so many children and families without the support of our donors and sponsors. By donating money, in-kind services, and goods, you have helped us improve the lives of children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Financial donations can purchase groceries and school supplies for families in need or cover the cost of daycare registration so a young parent can go to work. Donations of home goods can furnish the Ujima Village overnight shelter and housing programs such as Harmony Village Transitional Housing Program and Ujima Stars Joint Transitional Housing (TH), and Permanent Rapid Rehousing (PH-RRH).

Your support of our programs is greatly appreciated. Join the fight to end homelessness and donate to Unity Parenting and Counseling today. You can also keep up to date on the current news by joining our mailing list.
